Heart of Texas Records is proud to team Johnny Rodriguez and Johnny Bush together for the very first time in "Texas Legends." This projects features two old friends creating some special Country Music in their unique Texas way.

Johnny Rodriguez grew up as a fan of Johnny Bush. Bush offered encouragement and even gave Rodriguez one of his first guitars. The two artists worked several shows together throughout the years, but never entered the recording studio together until 2009.

"Texas Legends" features some terrific selections from both Johnnys. The album is highlighted by some duets including "Troubles" "Old Worn Out Cowboys" "Vamoose Vamonos" along with each artists doing some solo work as well. Bush turns to Bill Anderson's writing skills in "You Lied To Me" while Rodriguez tackles the beautiful balad "What Do I Do With Me Now."

Johnny Rodriguez and Johnny Bush "Texas Legends" is sure to become a Country Music milestone in the career of both Bush and Rodriguez and hopefully the beginning of more to come.

Dale Watson has always stood proudly�often defiantly�apart from Nashville and the country music establishment. Using his own band on his albums, going his own flinty way and playing residencies in joints like the Broken Spoke and Ginny�s Little Longhorn are badges of honor in the fight against the corporate and musical hegemony that has overtaken �Nash Vegas,� as its detractors label the country music capital.

So it�s with no small amount of curiosity (and even trepidation) when one learns that Watson went to Nashville to record his latest album, �Carryin� On.�

But to no one�s surprise, Watson is taking Music City on his own terms. In the interests of stretching his wings, Watson set aside his usual hardcore country road band in favor of a handful of vintage A-list Nashville session men, including steel guitarist Lloyd Green, keyboardist Hargus �Pig� Robbins, guitarist Pete Wade, and others.

The result is a fetching collection of retro-sounding Watson tracks that pairs the singer�s craggy voice with the polished, classic �countrypolitan� instrumental sound of Nashville�s 1960s heyday.

Though the songs are all Watson�s own, there are echoes (perhaps inevitably, given the personnel and the setting) of classic hitmakers like Merle Haggard in the kickoff title track and �Flowers In Your Hair,� Jerry Reed (the pedal-to-the-metal �I�ll Show Ya�), George Jones (�Don�t Wanna Go Home Song,� a classic barfly anthem), Marty Robbins (�For A Little While,� with its limpid gutstring mariachi guitar) and Glen Campbell and John Hartford (the waltzing �Your Love I�m Gonna Miss�).

Waltzes, drinking songs and two-steps abound. Watson, after all, has honky-tonks and beer joints encoded in his DNA. But it�s fun and instructive to hear him step out of his comfort zone and surrender a little of his famous autonomy in the interests of stretching his wings. Instead of railing against Nashville, he�s found a way to make it work for him.

"Annabelle" was nominated for the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Male Country Vocal Performance. "Ain't Chet Yet" was nominated for Best Country Instrumental Performance.

Most people know Ray Benson as the deep, rich voice of Western swing revivalists Asleep at the Wheel. After more than three decades behind that wheel, Benson finally decided to step out with an album of his own songs. While a couple of the tunes (the roadhouse blues stomp "Mary Anne," the Bob Wills-indebted "Leave that Cowboy Alone") wouldn't sound out of place on an Asleep at the Wheel album, the bulk of the songs run quite a bit further afield. It's hard to imagine Benson's band tackling the Don Williams-like 1970s-sounding country/pop of "Annabelle," the big-band ballad "Sorry," or the (non-Western) swing-inflected, jazzy "Let's Get Lost" (not the Chet Baker tune of the same name). It's also hard to imagine someone without as much experience, confidence, and just plain talent as Benson pulling off such a varied and resolutely non-commercial record as this in the lowest-common-denominator world of 21st-century American popular music.

Okay, so what's a record on the Warner Western label with a Buckaroo moniker doing between the pages of this respectable jazz magazine? If you don't know Herb Jeffries, then you should. His limpid vocal tones graced many a jazz bandstand, including most notably that of Duke Ellington, years ago. In the late '30s-that's right, I said '30s - he found a niche as sort of a sepia Gene Autry in a series of cowboy movies aimed at the "race" audience. These were C movies according to Jeffries' recent accounts, however they gave him a certain cachet, and now nearly 50 years later some quirky exec at Warners has shown fit to resurrect this cornerstone of Jeffries' career on disc.

Herb Jeffries' rich, clear baritone pipes belie the fact that he is 83 years young. He is possessed of extraordinary vocal control for a man of any age. No, this is not a jazz album; the pedal steel guitar is in place, the cowboy designation on the cover is for real, and the Nashvillian backing vocals mark this for just what it is-a set of old prairie songs. But they are not without quirks, some of which are derivatives from Herb's background, perhaps just to make that connection. These include Take 6's backing vocals on "Tumbling Tumbleweeds," and Hal Linden's jazzy clarinet break on "Pay Day Blues" (though Linden's contribution is mis-labeled), as well as the spare jazz feel of the general instrumental accompaniment. One is forgiven if one takes these sounds for some sort of Bizzaro World Hee Haw session, but Jeffries' voice and its remarkable longevity is the focal point of this release. Two smacks on Warners wrists for the stingy recording time however. - Willard Jenkins

| Reckless Kelly formed in Bend, OR, before relocating to Austin, TX, in |
| January 1997. The Brauns had previously toured with their father in |
| Muzzie Braun & the Boys, a Western swing band, and were joined in their |
| own group by lead guitarist Casey Pollock, bassist Chris Schelske, and |
| drummer Jay Nazz. Reckless Kelly's debut album, Millican, appeared in |
| 1998; Acoustic: Live at Stubb's and Day both followed two years later, |
| after which David Abeyta replaced Pollock on lead guitar. Under the |
| Table and Above the Sun from 2003 began the band's relationship with the |
| high-profile Sugar Hill label and won the hearts of the music press and |
| honky tonkin' legend Joe Ely, who sang the band's praises in interviews. |
| Wicked Twisted Road was released in 2005, and the next year the live |
| album Reckless Kelly Was Here, which featured songs from all of their |
| previous studio records, as well as three covers, and truly captured the |
| band's stage presence, came out. Bulletproof appeared from Yep Roc in |
| 2008.

TROY COOK, JR./IT'S ALL ABOUT LOVE. The third CD for COOK and probably his best so far. It's solid stone cold country with fiddles, steel guitar, piano, electric lead, bass, drums and harmony vocals. Recorded in Nashville, produced by the legendary Colonel Buster Doss with an excellent line up of outstanding musicans and top tunes a combination that's bound to get the attention of country fans the world over. While the production is outstanding country, COOK is in top form vocally and knows how to sing country. If you're looking for a country, don't pass this one up. COOK never sounded better. Twelve performances. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Chris Wall Biography
Born: February 26, 1952
Any guy could put on a Stetson hat and pretend he is a country singer, but Chris Wall is the real thing, a songwriter who knows about honky tonks and country clich�s. Wall is alternately humorous ("Something to Shoot" from Honky Tonk Heart) and personable, relating little stories showing that he wears his honky tonk heart on his sleeve. Born in Newport Beach, CA, Wall was the son of a singer who collaborated with the Sons of the Pioneers' Bob Nolan. Wall also spent time at his uncle's cattle ranch, growing to love the country more than his usual surroundings. He later moved to Montana and began writing country songs; he met Guy Clark in 1987 and, after the two swapped songs, Clark recommended the young singer to Jerry Jeff Walker, who caught his show in Jackson Hole, WY. Impressed by what he saw, Walker invited Wall down to Austin in 1988 to record with him. After a few sessions, he moved there and released his debut tape in mid-1989. Rykodisc signed the back-to-basics country guitarist after hearing the tape and seeing his support slot for Walker. Remixed and remastered, Honky Tonk Heart appeared in 1990. No Sweat was released the following year. A long hiatus preceded the release of Tainted Angel in 1998.

Troy was born in Orange County, California, but has spend most of his life growing up on a farm in Beebe, Arkansas. January 2007 he relocated to the Nashville, Tennessee area to position himself better in the country music world.
His love for music inspired him to learn to play many instruments, lead guitar being his greatest passion. He also concentrated on writing some of his own songs, several reaching #1 with the EUROPEAN COUNTRY MUSIC ASSOCIATION.
During his earlier career with an independent label, he scored high with several awards, including 'BEST OF TEXAS INT'L COUNTRY MALE ARTIST OF THE YEAR' & 'EUROPEAN COUNTRY MUSIC ASSOC MALE VOCALIST & ENTERTAINER OF THE YEAR'.
Some of his other accomplishments are:
Opening for The Kentucky Headhunters, Jerry Reed, T. Graham Brown & Moe Bandy. He has played shows with: Tommy Cash, Billy Walker & Ernie Ashworth. He was in the movie 'COME EARLY MORNING' starring Ashley Judd, with 2 of his songs can be found on the sound track of the movie.

Though he arrived in Nashville during a different time period with the rest of the "new traditionalists," Mark Chesnutt was always a breed apart. His time with the majors netted him some hits, but he hasn't been recording for the biggies for eight years now. His independent records have been consistent, sticking close to his love for honky tonk and roots country. As a title, Outlaw may be an outdated term in the industry, but Chesnutt doesn't care. On this 12 song-set recorded in Los Angeles and produced by Pete Anderson, Chesnutt pays tributes to the heroes of his youth, covering songs by Willie Nelson, Billy Joe Shaver, Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson, Hank Williams, Jr., Guy Clark, David Allan Coe, Shel Silverstein, and others. All of these songs have been covered before and often, and Chesnutt doesn't do anything revolutionary with any of them -- and that's the point: perfection needs no improvement. Beginning with Shaver's "Black Rose," you can actually feel the presence of its author The sentiment expressed in Hank Jr.'s "Whiskey Bent and Hell Bound" is a reflection of the truth in a life lived rather than a party anthem. In Jennings' arrangement of Neil Young's "Ready for the Country" -- featuring dueling slide guitars and fiddles -- the listener can hear Waylon's ghost. The desolation in Kristofferson's "Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down" and "Lovin' Her Was Easier (Than Anything I'll Ever Do Again)," the desolation, and the strain of pained memory and loss are not hinted at, they're expressed as grief bravely articulated. Few others could do justice to the hard, complicated truths of "You Just Don't Love Me Anymore" or "If It's All the Same to You," and Price proves he's earned an overwrought lyric like the title song simply by undersinging it. Texas contest fiddlers, that is. Contest fiddling is a different game than performing; where the former must please judges with technique and speed on traditional tunes to be successful, the latter wins audiences and dancers with a good groove or hot swinging solos. Texas fiddlers are known for a smoother and jazzier style than other contest fiddlers, even though they sound positively old-fashioned next to a Johnny Gimble or a Bobby Flores.

The Quebe Sisters � Grace (18 years old), Sophia (17) and Hulda (14) � are all Texas and national fiddling champs in their age group, but on their first album they attempt to have it both ways. Backed by a small band, they�ve got traditional contest staples such as �Don�t Let The Deal Go Down� and �Red Wing�, but they also offer plenty of Bob Wills and Milton Brown. They have chops to burn, too, especially Hulda, who on her three solo tunes features more traditional material. (The other two, who each get a pair of solo spots, seem equally comfortable with trad and swing.)

They�re best when playing moody, three-fiddle arrangements such as �Just A Closer Walk With Thee� and �Red River Valley�, but any one of them could develop into a crack soloist as soon as she�s matured enough to put as much personality as chops into her playing. This is specialized stuff, but if you are a connoisseur of the fiddling arts � traditional tunes that swing, swing as traditional music � these young ladies are for you.

When Grace, Sophia and Hulda Quebe (pronounced kway-bee) take to a stage, audiences marvel � first at the sight of three young girls ready to please. McHayes was an American country music duo established in 2003 by Wade Hayes (guitar, vocals), along with musician Mark McClurg (fiddle, vocals). Prior to the duo's foundation, Hayes was a solo artist, and McClurg was a member of Alan Jackson's road band, The Strayhorns. Active only in the year 2003, McHayes recorded an unreleased studio album on the Universal South Records label, in addition to charting one single on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks (now Hot Country Songs) charts. Ater disbanding, McClurg rejoined Jackson's band, and Hayes joined former Alabama lead singer Randy Owen's backing band.
Signed to Universal South Records in 2003, McHayes charted one single, titled "It Doesn't Mean I Don't Love You", which fell one space of top 40 on the U.S. country charts. McHayes also recorded an album titled Lessons in Lonely, which was slated for release in mid-2003; the album's release was delayed and eventually shelved, and the duo exited Universal South's roster.

With 'Rollin' Through The Sunshine' it shouldn't take long to figure 
out the Nashville-based trio Trailer Choir sing of good times, better 
whiskey, and the best American nightlife has to offer. With members 
Crystal, Butter, and Vinny -- the 400 pound man who is known to dance 
the worm in the middle of their shows -- Trailer Choir started out as 
a cover band, playing everything from the barroom standard 'Friends 
in Low Places' to the disco favorite 'I Will Survive' As they began 
adding original songs to the mix, their audience grew. One night, 
impressed by their whimsical tunes and energetic stage show, country 
music superstar Toby Keith introduced himself to the band. A showcase

Heart of Texas Records is pleased to announce our latest release by the "Princess of Country Music" Georgette Jones. "Slightly Used Woman" is the first full album by the daughter of George Jones and Tammy Wynette. This twelve song CD is filled with great Traditional Country music performed by the only person to have both parents in the Country Music Hall of Famer.
Jones opens the album with a song penned by her mother. "Slightly Used Woman" is an autobiographical anthem about a woman looking for love after being "slightly used" by another man.
"This song has always been one of my favorite selections from my mother," Jones said. "It starts by describing our home on Franklin Road in Nashville and really speaks volumes about mom's songwriting ability. I just had to record this one for the album."
Jones also includes a song written in tribute to her mother. "I Hope You Knew" is a true letter in song to Tammy Wynette from her daughter. She also adds other classics from the Wynette catalog including "I Don't Wanna Play House" "Send Me No Roses" and "I Still Believe In Fairy Tales."
She honors her dad with his hit "The Race Is On." In a slightly faster style, Jones reprises the classic in appreciation to her father's contribution to her career. The two Joneses also duet on the previously released "You And Me And Time." The song tells the story of both George and Georgette finally finding each other after some seperation over time.
Jones also included some new material including "Second Time Around" written by Texan Brandi Davidson and the Kitty Wells classic "You Don't Hear." The album is then rounded out with her duet with Mark McGuinn "Better Painful Ending" and the gospel standard "Precious Memories."
"It is truly an honor for our Heart of Texas Records family to add Georgette Jones to our roster," Heart of Texas Records President Tracy Pitcox said. "Georgette is an artist that can easily stand on her own vocal ability. Adding her great vocal presence to her incredible heritage makes Georgette one of our brightest new artists in Traditional Country Music. She deserves every good thing that comes her way."
In Heart of Texas Records style, a special emphasis is placed on the musical ability of steel guitarists Paul Franklin and Jamie Lennon, bass of Jake Hooker, John Willis and Dave Pomeroy, Fiddle of Reggie Rueffer, Lead Guitar of Charley Walton, Brent Mason and Justin Trevino, Piano of Tim Alexander and Shane Keister and the drums of Jim Loessberg and Owen Hale. When he passed away last year, Country Music Hall of Famer Hank Thompson left a recording career that spawned seven decades and amassed over 60 million sold recordings. He captured virtually every award that the industry could present to him including the coveted spot in the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Country Music Hall of Fame as well.
�Treasures-Unreleased 1950�s Recordings By Hank Thompson And The Brazos Valley Boys� brings to light a remarkable time in the career of Hank Thompson. This new album on Heart of Texas Records contains twenty songs that were recorded by Hank in his home studio in Oklahoma featuring one of the most versatile grouping of the Brazos Valley Boys.
�One of Hank�s first projects after his move to Oklahoma City in 1952, was to buy a state of the art Ampex tape recorder and set up a recording studio in his home,� Thompson�s biographer Warren Kice said. �Hank and his band were able to practice and perfect the songs before the final recordings were made at the Capitol Studio. A great majority of the songs that were prerecorded at Hank�s house were ultimately recorded in the Capitol studio and released. But there were twenty songs that were recorded that didn�t see the light of day until Hank Thompson Treasures.�
Thompson wrote fourteen of the songs on �Hank Thompson�s Treasures� including You�re Too Young To Cry Now� �I Know Exactly How You Feel� �Harbor Of Love� �You Can�t Put That Monkey On My Back� �Love Is Where You Find It� �I Could Love The Devil Out of You� and �Meet Me On The Corner.�
He also turned to his long time writing friends Weldon and Hathcock to contribute �Whipporwill Lane� �A Fool And His Dreams� �Everybody�s Crazy� and �Maple On The Hill.�
�Hank had worked on this songs in the past and even thought about releasing them,� Ann Thompson, Hank�s widow, said. �He just decided that the time was not right. After he passed away, Warren and I felt that these recordings were so great that we wanted Hank�s fans to hear them. We also wanted Heart of Texas Records and Tracy Pitcox to be the one to put out these treasures.�
Thompson�s voice is at his prime. During these recordings, Thompson was the engineer, producer, guitarist and vocalist all at the same time. These twenty songs would compare to any of Thompson�s Capitol recordings from the same era. It is truly a mystery why they were not recorded for release on Capitol.
The Brazos Valley Boys on these recordings include Billy Gray on Rhythm Guitar, Bobbie White and Pee Wee Whitewing on Steel Guitar, Amos Hedrick, Bob White and Curly Lewis on Fiddles, Paul McGhee on Drums, Billy Stewart on Bass, Gill Baca and Donny McDaniel on Piano, Dubert Dobson on Trumpet and Hank Thompson on Lead Guitar.
�Hank was working on a new project for Heart of Texas Records before he became ill,� Heart of Texas Records President Tracy Pitcox said. �We did not have the opportunity to finish the album before he passed away. I was so excited when Ann retrieved these great treasures from their attic. I was amazed at the quality of these recordings. It is amazing that after fifty years, we have a new Hank Thompson project.�

Although they've enjoyed commercial success with fine country singles like
"Toes," "Whatever It Is," and the infectious, laid-back classic anthem
"Chicken Fried," the Zac Brown Band are really all about their live shows, and
this three-disc set (two discs of music plus a DVD) captures the reverent,
communal feel of the band's performances. Recorded at the Fox Theatre in
Atlanta on October 30, 2009 as a benefit for Athens' historic Georgia
Theatre, the show features a host of guest stars, including Kid Rock on
"Can't You See," Little Big Town on "Colder Weather," and Shawn Mullins on
"Toes," as well as band performances of "Chicken Fried" and the group's
other key songs. What makes a Zac Brown Band show really work, though, is
the way the band pays homage to its influences, and there are intelligent
covers here of Paul McCartney's "Blackbird," Bob Dylan's "I Shall Be
Released," Charlie Daniels' "The Devil Went Down to Georgia," and the Band's
"The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down," and fine segues from the country-
reggae of "Where the Boat Leaves From" into Bob Marley's "One Love" and
from "Free" into Van Morrison's "Into the Mystic." It all flows naturally and
easily, making this set a wonderful introduction to a very special band. ~

"Cleve Francis is probably the only African American singer/cardiologist ever to have placed a song on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. He did it four times, in fact, in the early 1990s, with "Love Light," "You Do My Heart Good," "How Can I Hold You" and "Walkin'," each of which was a minor hit.
Francis became something of a national media sensation (a black cardiologist singing country music?!), but he never truly broke through. And so, 15 years ago, Francis -- who'd been one of the only African American country singers signed to a major label since Charley Pride in the 1960s -- gave up his country-stardom pursuit and returned to Mount Vernon Cardiology Associates, the Northern Virginia practice he'd founded in 1978.
Francis still performs the occasional concert...
He's never really stopped thinking about race in country music, either. A decade ago, Francis helped oversee the historical three-CD project, "From Where I Stand: The Black Experience In Country Music."

Catherine Britt was born and raised in Newcastle on Australia's eastern coast, where she fell under the spell of country music while still a young child. When she was 11 years old, Britt met singer Bill Chambers before one of his Australian concerts, asking him to sing Jimmie Rodgers' "T.B. Blues." Chambers was stunned that such a youngster would even know the song (or have heard of Rodgers), and ended up inviting her up to sing it with him during the show. Britt clearly was a phenomenal singing talent, and Chambers took her under his wing, producing her In the Pines EP, which was released in 1999. Britt was only 14 when a single from the project, "That Don't Bother Me," which was co-written with Chambers' daughter, Kasey Chambers, dented the country charts.
A full-length album, again produced by Bill Chambers, Dusty Smiles and Heartbreak Cures, was privately released in 2001. The album was picked up by ABC Records and re-released a year later in 2002, and garnered heavy Australian radio play. While touring Australia, Elton John heard Britt's album and began praising it in the press, which led to a meeting between the two singers. With John's help, Britt received several offers from American record companies, and she chose to sign a contract with RCA Records, which released a single, "Upside of Being Down," in 2004. Her first full-length on RCA, Too Far Gone, produced by Keith Stegall and Bill Chambers, was released early in 2005, when Britt was only 19 years old.

Court Yard Hounds is an American country music duo founded by sisters Martie Maguire and Emily Robison. They, along with Natalie Maines, make up the Dixie Chicks, which went on hiatus in 2008. Maguire and Robison decided to record a new Dixie Chicks album in 2009, but when Maines stated that she was not ready, the sisters decided to record a side project under a different name. Court Yard Hounds released its debut album for Columbia Records, the same label for which the Dixie Chicks has recorded, in May 2010.

Ther is a wide range of styles, from the a capella song to pure honky tonk (She's the one who made me number two), from uptempo fare to slow, sentimental numbers. Jane is a convincing interpreter and her performances are far removed from the synthetic conveyor belt fodder one gets to hear these days."
