Snow Patrol's career compilation is a great introduction of their chiming melodic-but-melancholic Rock sound to new listeners as it contains their hits and then some, but is also a delight to fans as it contains live versions of a couple of recordings ("Run" - which some think Leona Lewis did first, and "Chasing cars"), but also some rarities like "Signal fire" from the Spider-man 3 soundtrack, B-sides like their interesting cover of Beyonc�'s "Crazy in love" (with a spoken delivery from Gary Lightbody: Kind of tough imagining him shaking his tush like B though) and "PPP" (Post punk progression), and 3 new recordings; "Just Say Yes" (a UK top 20 hit), "Give Me Strength" and "Dark Roman Wine".

Not a greatest hits as such (though quite a number of their hits make the cut; "Chocolate", "Run", "Set the fire to the third bar" with Martha Wainwright and the Grammy-nominated "Chasing cars"), and spread over 2 discs, the 30 songs cover all 5 Snow Patrol albums - singles and album tracks included, as well as a couple of songs by Lightbody's side project Reindeer Section ("Cartwheels" and "You are my joy"). Also included is a Lightbody solo version of "An Olive Grove Facing the Sea".

Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds was a 1970s soft rock trio from Los Angeles. The original members were Dan Hamilton (guitar/lead vocal), Joe Frank Carollo(bass/vocal), and Tommy Reynolds (multi-instrumentalist/vocal), all of whom had previously played in The T-Bones, a 1960s band noted for the instrumental hit "No Matter What Shape (Your Stomach's In)".
The group first hit the charts in 1971 with "Don't Pull Your Love". From they're first album called-Hamilton, Joe Frank and Reynolds-self titled.

The Animals were an English music group of the 1960s known in the United States as part of the British Invasion. Known for their gritty, bluesy sound and deep-voiced frontman Eric Burdon, as exemplified by their signature songs "The House of the Rising Sun", "Sky Pilot" and "We Gotta Get out of This Place", the band balanced tough, rock-edged pop singles against rhythm and blues-oriented album material.

The Animals underwent numerous personnel changes and emerged as an exponent of psychedelic rock before dissolving at the end of the decade. They had a comeback in 1983 and started a world tour. In early 1984 the band disbanded. There have been several reunions of the original group and in recent times Burdon and original drummer John Steel have been touring with new versions of the Animals as Eric Burdon & the Animals and Animals & Friends respectively.

Creedence Clearwater Revival (often abbreviated CCR) was an American rock band that gained popularity in the late 1960s and early 1970s with a number of successful singles drawn from various albums.

The group consisted of lead vocalist, lead guitarist, and primary lyricist John Fogerty, his brother and rhythm guitarist Tom Fogerty, bassist Stu Cook, and drummer Doug Clifford. Their musical style encompassed rock and roll and swamp rock genres. Despite their San Francisco Bay Area origins, they are sometimes also cited as southern rock stylists.

CCR's music is still a staple of American and worldwide radio airplay and often figures in various media. The band has sold 26 million albums in the United States alone. CCR was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993.

1997's OK COMPUTER turned the rock world on its ear by bringing visionary neo-prog rock touches to a Britpop format. Consequently, KID A was one of the most anticipated releases of its era, especially since Nigel Godrich, the man behind the mixing desk for the previous album, was again on hand for this outing.
On KID A, Thom Yorke's passionate wailing isput through the aural wringer, and the band's previous nimbly orchestrated full-frontal sonic assault is replaced by full-frontal electric piano, to iconoclastic effect. The ambient underpinnings and garbled vocals of "Everything in Its Right Place", and the instrumental "Treefingers", the electronic beats of "Idioteque", and Yorke's processed voice on the title track will come as quite a shock to diehard '70s rockers who spent the late '90s deifying Radiohead as heirs to the Pink Floyd throne. But these touches work brilliantly, while the more organic elements, such as the jazzy horn sectionon "The National Anthem", and the comparatively conservative arrangement (though there's some unsettlingly atonal orchestration lurking here, too) of "How to Disappear Completely"provide a counterpoint to all this incipient modernism.

One of Rhett Miller's strengths as an artist is an ability to shift effortlessly
between his duties as Old 97s frontman/resident pin-up and his own burgeoning solo
career. On this 2009 release (his third) the authentic twang of his main band is on
display on songs like "Sometimes" and "Another Girlfriend," but the overall trend
is springy power-pop songcraft. The drolly tuneful "If It's Not Love" and "I Need
to Know Where I Stand" suggest years of apprenticeship with Nick Lowe, while the
snaky melody and sensuous strum of "Refusing Temptation" sounds like a b-side from
a '90s Matthew Sweet album. The bouncy "Like Life" features Miller's most soulful
vocal and insistent melodic hook. Altogether, the 12 songs show an evolving songwriting
talent.
